I would throughly recommend visiting Karijini National Park. There are quite tough walks but the scenery is amazing. Tom Price was good too going through the Mine and experiencing the large trucks and equipment used. We weren't that impressed with Marble Bar. We also visited Millstream National Park but you cannot beat Karijini National Park. If you would like to read our blog that was done two years ago you can view it at: http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Rimmont. The entry numbers are 62667 Exmouth to Port Hedland & 67885 Port Hedland to Eighty Mile Beach.

We lived in Newman which is basically a mining town but a beaut at that, yes Karijini is beautiful but if you would really like to see the area go to the tourist info at newman and get a hold of the water hole map. There are several great waterholes to visit near Newman, many with incredible Aboriginal rock carvings and no one around. My favourite are Punda and Wanna Munna as well as Kalgins pool which is where they filmed the australian movie "Japanese story" with Toni Collette. You could also find out about "Jiggalong" which is an aboriginal settlement about two hours east of Newman(not far in Pilbara terms) and the base for the movie "Rabbit Proof Fence". The camel races are in August and that is the best time to visit from about end of july to beginnig of October. I loved it there and still miss living in this beautiful part of our great big country

We have just come back from going around and the Pilbra is awsome the only propbelm we ever had was finding caravan parks in Western Australia who would take dogs, we traveled with our golden Retriver he was no problem but WA I would say do not like dogs you are then, sent to hide in out of the way places and forget Broome will never go there again , but loved every thing else just come back south to early and missed a lot of the wild flowers
